July 4th weekend!!! What’s going on and when…

This weekend the Shadowbox will host two awesome showings you SHOULD NOT miss! First up is Thirst, a Korean vampire film by Park Chan-Wook (Oldboy, Lady Vengeance). This film focuses around a priest who is given an infected blood transfusion turning him into the walking undead! Thirst shows Friday the 2nd at 8pm. On Saturday veteran comedy/ rap group the Illbotz will be hosting a screening of their newest video for “Illbotz Rock the Spot and Go Crazy”. With them will be their partner in crime TJ from TJTV co-hosting their videography and premiere. This glorious event will start at 8pm on Saturday the 3rd. Show up and drink beer, I know the Illbotz will.

Former Roanoker and Wading Girl member Billy Wallace will be returning to the Bazaar on Saturday the 3rd! Traveling with Billy will be Tallahassee group, PieParty! This show starts at 9pm and will cost you only $5, come out and celebrate a pre 4th of July with the gang!

As if the Shadowbox and the Bazaar weren’t enough this Saturday the Wilson Hughes Gallery downtown is throwing a show of a different nature! The show is being billed as a “space and drone show” and will feature Arte Povera, P.D. Wilder (with special guest Joe Morgan of the Late Virginia Summers), Summer of Glaciers and North Carolina band Remora. The show will start at 7pm running until 10pm. The gallery itself is located on 117 Campbell Ave. I can’t tell you much about the other acts but I can tell you Jordan from Arte Povera’s guitar playing is worth seeing alone!

Winding up the weekend is an event on the 4th itself! Heidi’s house is having yet another Sunday get together this time being a barbecue starting at 3pm! Bring food! To end the evening will be quite an amazing show with our own Eternal Summers! With them will be dear friends Reading Rainbow (from Philly) and Woven Bones (HoZac Records). The show portion of the evening will start at 9pm. Come out and have some fun at 1515 Roanoke Ave! Bring tents and sleeping bags as camping is encouraged! Donations for bands appreciated!

We now leave you with a behind the scenes look at the new Illbotz video, premiering at the Shadowbox on Saturday!

We hope you all have a safe and fun 4th of July! Check back with us next Tuesday for more events!

  1. Not to be nit-picky but “Thirst” is Korean.
